Overview

The Folsom South Canal Connection Project has progressed quite well throughout the 2008 construction period and we thank you for your cooperation. As you know with the continuing drought this project is critically important to the 1.3 million customers in our East Bay service area. Presently our customers are on a mandatory 15% water reduction schedule.

Pipe for the Northern Reach has been installed up to Dry Creek, the dividing line between Sacramento and San Joaquin Counties, including places in-between where we had to access environmentally sensitive areas prior to the rainy season. All work for this section is expected to be complete by late May 2009.

Pipe installation on the Middle Reach on Liberty Road between Jack Tone and the Mokelumne River is expected to finish in late March 2009 and all remaining work in early May 2009. Intermittent road closures between Jack Tone and Mackville Roads with flagged controls will continue to occur during pipe installation.

The last stick of pipe has been installed on the Southern Reach between the Mokelumne River and the Mokelumne Aqueducts beyond the end of Cord Road. All remaining testing and repair work for this section is expected to finish in early February 2009.

As usual please exercise caution while driving through the construction zones; please be aware of all posted speed limits and traffic signs.

Note: Road closure and detour details are preliminary and are subject to change. Working hours are Monday through Friday, 7 am to 6 pm. Some Saturday work may take place. Construction, including partial or full road closures, will continue through May 2009. Updates will be provided as construction progresses.
